The Ahmednagar district administration on Thursday issued an order attaching a plot of land bought by actor Rani Mukherjee in the pilgrim town of Shirdi.

Rani, who bought an 11-guntha plot (nearly 12,000 sq ft) for Rs 33 lakh, can reclaim the land after paying 75% of the land's prevailing market value, according to an order passed by Shrirampur SDO Nandkumar Suryavanshi.

Rani's lawyer, N Chaudhari, said the order of attachment would be challenged in the Aurangabad bench of the Bombay high court.

Rani, who is a regular visitor to the famous Sai Baba temple at Shirdi, which falls under the Shrirampur sub-division, bought the land from a local resident, Sampat More. She later applied to the revenue authorities for transfer of ownership.
