A top TV journalist in Croatia handed in a large expenses claim — a bill for £26,000 for dental treatment to keep his viewer-winning smile. Star reporter Damir Matkovic has made a name for himself on TV just as much from his smile as his reporting skills.
But then, he found out that he was suffering from periodontitis — a condition where the gums become inflamed and can lead to tooth loss. That’s when he persuaded chiefs at national TV station that his smile was worth the money. Fans of the reporter have praised the decision. Mirka Radicovic, who lives in Zagreb, said: “I only watch news programmes because of him. I couldn’t imagine him with no teeth.” (TOI)
